One of the new innovations in this digital world is putting documents on CD ROM. Thousands of pages of text fit on one CD. The pages are then completely searchable so the user can enter a word or phrase in the search box and find exactly what he or she is looking for. One long-term project I worked on was for the Nevada Legislative Counsel Bureau. They put more than a hundred years worth of statutes on CD ROMs. This was a multi-step process. They scanned the original pages, creating PDF files. They then converted the PDF files into Microsoft Word files and sent both sets of files to me. It was my job to compare the files and fix any errors that occurred during the conversion process or filling in missing words that the scanner didn't catch. I had to make the Microsoft Word documents look exactly like the original PDF pages. This required extreme attention to detail, one of my strongest assets. |
