Although I specialize in memoirs, textbooks, and CD ROMs, I have more than 20 years of experience in generalized proofreading and editing.
I have proofread and edited magazines, newsletters, newspapers, web sites, advertisements, corporate manuals, business letters, novels, and non-fiction books.
Do you know the difference between stationery and stationary? Do you know the difference between eminent and imminent? Spellchecker doesn't, but I do.
Even simple typos are easy to miss. You may mean then, but instead type than. When you proofread it yourself, your brain automatically sees what you think it should see. That's why you need another set of eyes besides your own to do the final proofreading. Before you submit your book, short story, article, research paper, newsletter, or any other piece of writing, you want it to be perfect.
I can edit electronically, using Microsoft Word's Track Changes feature. This allows you to accept or reject any changes I make, It also allows for faster turnaround time, sending files back and forth through e-mail. If you prefer to work with hard copy, we can do that too, and send documents through US Mail, UPS, or FedEx.
